The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®), published by The Myers-Briggs Company, describes personality preferences on four dichotomies, giving 16 possible types. It is designed for development, not for hiring.
The four preference pairs are Extraversion–Introversion (where you direct energy), Sensing–Intuition (how you take in information), Thinking–Feeling (how you make decisions) and Judging–Perceiving (how you approach the outside world).
Results describe preferences, not abilities or skills. People confirm their “best-fit” type with a qualified practitioner during feedback.
No. The publisher’s ethical guidelines state it should not be used for selection. For hiring we recommend instruments such as the 15FQ+ and ability tests.
